Dejay Pomeranians

Welcome to DeJay Poms!

Toby

I have been involved with showing Pomeranians since 1990. They are a special little dog with a big dog attitude. Some say they are just like potato chips... you can't have just one. This is very true! I have found that they are just like children.. they all have a different personalities a different look, a different bark and they come in so many different colors.

My love of the breed started many years ago, shortly after I got married in 1959, the parents of a friend of ours had a Pomeranian they could no longer keep so we took him in.. his name was Timmy, he was 6 years old when we got him.. 2 years later when we had our first child and she started crawling around.. we found out Timmy was not that fond of children., since we had to keep our daughter :-) we gave Timmy to my husband's parents who kept him until he died of natural causes many years later..it took many years for me to get back to owning a Pomeranian.. while the 3 kids we had were growing up, we had a toy poodle Punkin that lived 19 years and a black lab Czar that live 14 years.. after we lost them within a year of each other, I said that was it.. I was never getting another dog again.. it is to hard to lose them,, well it took me 2 years and I started to really want a dog again.. I found a show breeder of toy poodles and I got another poodle for a pet.. then I started to think of the how much I had really liked Timmy.. so I started looking for a Pomeranian, and what better place to look for one then at a dog show.. So I started to go to dog shows and watched the Poms show.. I found a pet Pom that had just about ALL the problems that a pom can have.. his name was Foxy and he was the love of my life..after going to shows and watching I decided I would like to try it.. many breeders seen me for a few months at all the shows sitting ringside before I finally talked to a few of them that were showing the type of Poms that I really liked the looks of. I found a couple that were willing to work with me and that was the start of DeJay Poms.. I never liked to do much breeding so I got into handling for others which I still enjoy doing very much.. a few years ago I went on another endeavor and bred and finished quite a few of the Poms we bred along with buying ones that we finished also.

I am back to the DeJay name and with my partner Dana Coventry we own along with the breeder Lee Cook a Wonderful Pomeranian Dog that we are specialing. Please check out Toby's page, we are looking forward to the coming years ! I will breed on a small basis so I might have show poms or pets available occasionally, all pets are placed on a spay/neuter contract, I also do Pomeranian Rescue in Michigan.

Thanks for stopping by to visit and please sign my guestbook so I know you were here. Also check out the article in The POM Reader (September 2002) about me! >> People In Poms: Donna Machniak
